Hospital Stay & Thoughts

I would have to say that going into labor and giving birth was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I was way to freaked out and worried about nothing!! Don't get me wrong I am not one of those moms who is like "Oh it is no big deal, it is easy!" I am just saying that it was not that bad and it was totally worth it, although if we have more children each experience could be totally different.  I am not going to share an intense detailed birth story at this time, but would be more than happy to share with you if you ask!

Basically I started having contractions on and off from 6am-noon on the 6th.  From about noon until 4 they were more regular but still not close together.  I went to the Doctor for my routine check up at 4:30, I got home at 5:30 by 6:30 I was on my way to the hospital having contractions 2 min. apart.  I got to the hospital I was 5 cm, I got my epidural, progressed pretty quickly and after 3.5 hours of pushing Oliver was in my arms!!

Contractions- painful but manageable
Epidural- no big deal
Pushing- Not bad just tiring after awhile.
Holding Baby- BEST DAY EVER!!

The hospital stay was ok, labor and delivery nurses were nice, but the post partum nurses were kind of hit or miss.  Some of them were really not nice or helpful, but next time I think I will no more of what I am doing and will not let the nurses scare me.

It was nice to come home and be in our own house without so many interruptions.

The first 2 weeks after being home I was like I want to go back to the hospital and give birth again it was my favorite getting to hold him for the first time.  Now I just enjoy holding, cuddling, hugging him all the time and am enjoying watching him grow.

I absolutely love being a mom and wouldn't trade it for anything.  Heck, my stomach is bigger now, I have stretch marks, my body is not the same at all, I am sleep deprived, and I do not know how I am going to keep this house cleaned and chores done.... but Oliver is the most important in the world and I am going to dedicate my time to him first and if other stuff gets done great. And hey maybe my body will go back to normal it has only been 4 weeks.  It has been nice having Cory off of work as well because he is helping a lot and he is doing a lot of the chores.  We can also take turns taking naps during the day.

Here are some pics from the hospital

 I was starved!
