Football and Fitzgerald

Football season is officially starting next weekend and ASU already started.  Can't wait for many fun Sundays watching the Cardinals.  Hopefully we will have people over too to watch the game once or twice. We kicked off our excitement this year at the training camp scrimmage in Glendale. Oliver was exhausted and pooped all over Cory (Oliver was wearing a larry jersey) but other than that it was great! Oliver's first football event and he got to meet Larry Fitzgerald!!

7 month favorites

Zebra, Skip Hop Lamb, and Little Einstein balls are his current favorite toys.
Eddie Baur High Chair: Love that it matches our kitchen table and its easy to keep clean.
Kenny Loggins Pooh Corner and Pretty Ponies: This has been relaxing him since he was about 3 months old.
Mumbi Bumbi Food trays: A friend told me about these. Great for freezing home made baby food.
OXO food containers: Great for defrosting food in.
Zoli Cup: So far he understands the concept of the cup and sucks the water up but then spits half of it out.
Pack N Play: This is great for hotel stays and vacations for him to sleep in, grandma has one at her house too for naps, however he never  naps in it because he naps on the couch or on my lap.

baby's first foods

Solid foods= paranoid mommy LOL literally I was so nervous to give him solids, I was afraid he would stop nursing or wouldn't latch correctly anymore.  He is doing just fine though! I was also afraid to give him a sippy cup but he is doing great with that as well.  He mostly just plays with it but he drinks water and pumped breast milk out of it too.

So first we started him off just playing in his high chair and getting used to it.  Then I gave him a popsicle (frozen milk in a mesh container)

Then it was time for the real stuff.
So far he has had
avocado, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, carrots, peas, peaches, and nectarines!
Next up: Pears, green beans, butternut squash, oatmeal and/or rice cereal.

He drinks out of a zoli cup (straw) and/or tiny plastic or dixy cup which he pretty much dumps all over himself. I feed him and he feeds himself with his hands and his spoon.  He also plays with is food on his tray and sucks on the containers.

We have been making our own baby food and it is really fun and working out really well so far.  We basically have just done it 2 nights twice for a couple hours and we should have enough to last us for a month.  We will have to make a new batch in a couple of weeks since food only stays good for one month.  We freeze it in ice cube trays (mumbi and bumbi) and then we put cubes in zip lock bags in the freezer.  The night before we take out what we are going to give him the next day and put it in XOX Tupperware containers.  We just started doing 2 cubes a day, but I think he really is not interested but I will let him explore the idea.

He had 3 reactions to avocado so we are not feeding him that for the time being, everything else has been fine but I am hoping he will continue to be fine.  There is nothing worse then watching your little one puke a ton, I felt so bad for him. I am really wanting to try bananas but they are in the same family as avocado so I am nervous that he will not do well with them.  I am going to ask the doctor at the 9 month appointment.

I also want him to try pumpkin, strawberries, blueberries, and other fruits, veggies, yogurt, eggs, cheese, and more!

I know that for the time being he is doing great growing with breast milk.  He gained over 10 lbs on breast milk alone in the first 6.5 months of his life.  Those chunky legs are from my milk not the solids.

Also I have about 35 bags of frozen milk that I need to use by the end of September.  Wish it would stay good for a year instead of 6 months.  I guess you could say I over pumped but I was so paranoid about going back to work that I made sure I pumped enough so he would have enough.

Once I get through those 35 I have about another 60 bags that I have to use some expire in October, November, December, January.

Oliver's 6 month pictures

Here is our sweet boy at 6 months old! I can't!! He is oh so perfect!  Here are some of our favorites!!  And I am supposed to pick 6 to hang in our house.... I am having a hard time!

100th post

WOW! I can't believe I continued blogging this long to make it to 100 posts! It has been great being able to document our house adventures and more importantly our little family's adventures! I try so hard to document as much as I can because little Oliver just grows up so fast right before my eyes. Besides blogging and taking A LOT of pictures, I keep a small journal where I write something in it daily that he does.  I probably will only do that for the first year, but when he is older I will teach him to journal. :) (It's the teacher in me!)

I also try to just stop, watch, and live in the moment.  Sitting on the floor playing with Oliver, making him laugh and smile is the best! Watching that little guy sit so well and examine everything around him is just the cutest! He is so observant, so serious, and so silly! I love my little pumpkin! Pretty soon he will be crawling, he already scoots himself around the room when he wants to get a toy or the puppy's tail! I also enjoy watching Cory getting to play with Oliver, Cory has been enjoying bath time and feeding Oliver in his high chair.  Cory makes up silly games, rocks Oliver to sleep, and changes his diapers in the middle of the night before I feed!

Anyways parenting is truly a team effort and as much as we would love Oliver to stay little forever we are so excited watching him grow and develop!

HAHA the ergo! My husband makes fun!

Loves to play play play!

Fighter Pilot!

SO SILLY

So SNUGGLY

Oliver and Olaf! (hmmm maybe we will name our next boy Olaf!

Tried the Amber necklace but did not really work.

Poor little guy is teething like crazy! He has 2 teeth and the top 2 teeth have been trying to come in for a month now!!

More News.... I have officially opened up an etsy shop and I couldn't be more excited! I had said I wanted to sew more this summer and I have been sewing festive garlands ( for parties, holidays, showers, and more) and taggie blankies like crazy!! I made Oliver 5! I know excessive but he uses them all the time and I don't have to worry about them all being in the laundry at once! I have also been making binky clips.  Be sure to check out my shop and let me know if you have any questions!
